PayPal offers generous time off and leave policies, so you can be there for the special moments, rest when you’re not feeling well, and recharge your batteries when you need to.
Taking time off—away from your job—is vital to being at your best. We support this by offering ample time off and leaves for all kinds of situations.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
All full- and part-time employees receive 25 days of PTO per year to be used for personal time, illness, or vacation, calculated on a pro rata basis. You earn PTO at the rate of 16.67 work hours per month, up to a maximum of 200 hours per calendar year. You can carry over up to 42 days of unused PTO into the following year. Anything over 42 days is forfeited.
Employees can also borrow up to 40 hours of PTO with manager approval under certain circumstances.
Sick Time Off Policy
All regular employees are eligible for 7 working days of Sick Time Off each year. Sick Time Off is to be used when you're ill and is not to be used to care for a sick family member.
You accrue Sick Time Off at the beginning of the calendar year with accrual starting over at the beginning of each year. Unused Sick Time Off is not carried over to the following year and you cannot cash it out. If you're a new hire, your balance is pro-rated based on your start month.
You may use Sick Time Off for half a day as well, if needed. Apply for Sick Time Off through Workday (page accessible within the PayPal firewall).
PayPal India provides 12 holidays each year (including 2 floating holidays), so you can celebrate with family and friends. In keeping with the multi-cultural ethos of India, we strive to have a fair representation of regional festival days. View a complete list of holidays. In addition to your public holidays, you receive 2 floating holidays a year that you can use when you choose. Floating holidays don’t carry over—if you don’t use them, you lose them.

After completing 5 years of continuous service, you are eligible for 4 weeks paid sabbatical. All 4 weeks must be taken at once.
Receive up to 20 days paid bereavement leave for the death of a family member, depending on the relationship.
Employees receive 5 days of paid leave for their wedding.
Expectant mothers with 1 or more years of continuous employment with PayPal are eligible for paid maternity leave. Receive 100% of base salary, including state maternity benefits, for up to 26 weeks.
As a new father, you can receive 2 weeks of paid paternity leave to be with your family. Take within 6 months of the birth or adoption of a child 12 years old or younger.
Extended paternity leave policy
You may receive an extended paternity leave of up to 1 calendar week for the hospitalization of mother or newborn due to pregnancy or delivery complexities.
This includes situations such as premature delivery, miscarriage, or any other severe medical condition that arises from the pregnancy and requires hospitalization.
You are eligible for this leave only after using paternity leave. Similar to paternity leave, extended paternity leave can be used all at once and within a 30-day window from your paternity leave end date. Female employees who legally adopt a child who is 12 years old or younger qualify for up to 16 weeks of paid leave.
