Time off

What you need to know

PayPal offers generous time-off policies so you can be there for the special moments, rest when you’re not feeling well, and recharge your batteries when you need to.

Taking time off—away from your job—is vital to being at your best. We support this by offering ample time off for all kinds of situations.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

PayPal values your wellness and wants you to take care of yourself and others in a way that best addresses your needs. Our Paid Time Off (PTO) policy provides the flexibility to use your time for whatever recharges you.

You start earning PTO on your first day of employment. Starting 1 January, full-time employees earn 18 hours of PTO per month / 216 hours of PTO per annum. This means you receive 27 working days of PTO a year. Part-time employees earn PTO time prorated, based on your scheduled hours. Your PTO is loaded on the 1st of January of each year for you to use.

Each new year, you can carry over a maximum of 5 days PTO, which should be used by the end of March. Your manager will review your PTO balance with you regularly.

Sabbatical

Travel. Write a book. Pursue a hobby. Spend more time with your family. With PayPal’s sabbatical programme, you have the opportunity to do all this and more.

After completing 5 years of continuous service, full- and part-time employees are eligible for 4 weeks paid sabbatical. All 4 weeks must be taken at once and within 12 months of the 5-year anniversary date.

Use the sabbatical checklist to apply and get ready for your sabbatical.
