What you need to know
Insurance is about protecting the people who are most important to you, in the event you ever need it. At PayPal we offer life, work injury, and accidental death insurance to protect you and your family if something happens.
Life insurance
You’re covered by occupational group life insurance (TGL) through Skandia on your date of hire. You’re automatically enrolled in this plan, and PayPal pays for the cover.
TGL applies to nearly all salaried employees in the private sector who are 18 to 70 years old. This insurance provides your designated beneficiaries a one-time, tax-free, lump-sum payment upon your death:
- Base benefit of 6 PBA* (amount reduces from age 55 and older)
- Child benefit of 0.5–2.0 PBA* for each child under the age of 20
According to the standard provision, beneficiaries of the base benefit are:
- Primarily: spouses
- Secondarily: children
- Tertiarily: parents
A special provision is required for a cohabitant to be the beneficiary, and you must complete a special beneficiary form and put it in your files.

Work injury and accidental death insurance
TFA is labour-market, no-fault liability insurance provided by Afa Försäkring (via Fora) that covers occupational injuries. Cover levels are subject to individual assessment of the injury or accident.
Work injury and accidental death insurance may provide benefits in the event of:
- Work-related accidents
- Accidents on the way to or from work
- Work-related injuries (subject to approval from the Försäkringskassan)
