Life and disability insurance

What you need to know

Insurance is about protecting the people who are most important to you. It’s about having financial protection — in the event you need it. It’s about taking care of yourself and your loved ones should you become severely injured or die. It’s about having peace of mind. PayPal provides you with life and disability insurance through VidaCaixa at no cost to you.

How the plan works

The VidaCaixa Life Plan is available to all employees of PayPal Spain Int., PayPal Societas EU, and PayPal Spain. PayPal pays 100% of the premiums for your life insurance cover. However, it’s a taxable benefit as follows:

  • Individual premium: Under legislation, the insurance premium is considered salary in kind, so it is included in your Social Security contribution base
  • Benefit: The insurance company will apply IRPF (Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas) tax to the amount of compensation, in case of disability

In case of death, beneficiaries pay for the corresponding inheritance tax.

Enrolling in the plan

You may join the plan at any time. Simply fill out the VidaCaixa Life Enrolment Form, and submit it to HR Hub via a webform. HR Hub will work on your application and confirm once it has been processed. Upon approval, the insurer will issue and deliver an Individual Certificate of Insurance to you.

To name your beneficiary(ies), complete the VidaCaixa Life Beneficiary Form, and submit it to HR Hub via a webform. To change your beneficiary designation, submit a request to HR Hub via a webform.
