Paid time off (PTO)
PayPal values your wellness and wants you to take care of yourself and others in a way that best addresses your needs. Our paid time off (PTO) policy provides the flexibility to use your time for whatever recharges you.
You start earning PTO on your first day of employment:
- First year: 20 days
- Each additional year: 1 additional day per year, up to a maximum of 25 days

Employees receive 5 working days of paid leave for their wedding.
Bereavement leave
Bereavement leave
Receive up to 20 days paid bereavement leave for the death of a family member, depending on the relationship.
Sick and medical leave
Sick and medical leave
Employees who become too sick to work are eligible for sick and medical leave.
You accumulate paid sickness days at the rate of 2 paid sickness days for each completed month during the first 12 months and then 4 paid sickness days for each completed month thereafter.
Paid sickness days cannot exceed 120 days at any one time.
Maternity leave
Maternity leave
Expectant mothers who have completed 40 weeks of service with PayPal are eligible for 14 weeks of paid maternity leave to support them throughout the latter stages of pregnancy and their child's early months. You can take an additional 4 weeks of unpaid leave for illness or complication from the pregnancy.

New fathers are eligible for 5 days of paid paternity leave.
Community Impact leave
Community Impact leave
Through our charitable giving initiative, PayPal Gives, you’re eligible for paid Community Impact time off at 100% of your base pay for 8 hours per year while volunteering at a qualifying charitable organization. Community Impact time off is available after your first year of employment.

Personal leave
Personal leave
If you have exhausted your paid leave, you may be entitled to take leave without pay.
In extraordinary circumstances, PayPal may provide unpaid personal leave for up to 30 days to eligible employees in good standing who need to take time off from work to fulfill urgent personal obligations not provided for under statute.
