Taking time off — away from your job — is vital to being at your best. We support this by offering ample time off for all kinds of situations.
Paid time off (PTO)
PayPal values your wellness and wants you to take care of yourself and others in a way that best addresses your needs. Our paid time off (PTO) policy provides the flexibility to use your time for whatever recharges you.
You start earning PTO on your first day of employment:
- First year of your tenure—20 days
- Each additional year of your tenure—1 additional day per year, up to a maximum of 25 days per annum

PayPal offers different leaves of absence to address the unique needs in your life.
Sick time off
Sick time off
Employees who become too sick to work are eligible for 120 work hours of sick time each year (15 work days for employees who work 8 hours per day or 12 work days for employees who work 10 hours per day). If you’re out sick for more than 3 days in a row, you’ll need to provide a doctor’s note.
Any unused sick time at the end of the year is forfeited. Employees who don’t use any sick time during the calendar year are eligible to receive an additional 24 hours of PTO the following year.

Employees are eligible to avail 5 paid working days of marriage leave, for the first legal marriage.
Bereavement leave
Bereavement leave
Receive up to 20 work days of paid bereavement leave for the death of a family member, depending on the relationship.
Gynecological leave
Gynecological leave
Female employees are eligible to receive up to 60 calendar days of paid gynecological leave per year for surgical procedures.
Maternity leave
Maternity leave
Expectant mothers are eligible for 105 calendar days of paid maternity leave to support you throughout the latter stages of your pregnancy and your child's early months.

New fathers are eligible for 14 calendar days of paid paternity leave.
Adoption leave
Adoption leave
Mothers who have adopted a child aged 7 or younger are eligible for 105 calendar days of paid adoption leave. Fathers of an adopted child aged 7 or younger are eligible for 14 calendar days of paid adoption leave.
Miscarriage leave

Female employees who experience a miscarriage receive 60 calendar days of paid leave.
Carer’s time off
Carer’s time off
Receive up to 2 work days paid (or 4 half days) to care for a child or elderly parent, in-law, or domestic partner’s parent.
Extended childcare solo parent time off
Extended childcare solo parent time off
Single parents are eligible for up to 7 work days of child care time off per year, with a copy of your solo parent identification card from the Department of Social and Welfare Development office.
Disaster time off
Disaster time off
Employees affected by a natural disaster, such as flooding, a typhoon, or an earthquake, are eligible to take 3 work days paid.
Violence against women and their children (VAWC) time off
Violence against women and their children (VAWC) time off
Female employees who are victims of violence receive up to 10 work days of paid leave. To be eligible, you must present official certification.
Community Impact time off (Paid)
Community Impact time off (Paid)
Through our charitable giving initiative, PayPal Gives, you are eligible for paid Community Impact time off at 100% of your base pay for 8 hours per year while volunteering at a qualifying charitable organization. Community Impact time off is available after your first year of employment.
