Employees working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for benefits, effective on your date of hire. Watch for emails at your PayPal email address from Employee Central and our various benefit providers: Canada Life, myHSA, and Manulife.

As a new hire, we know you have a lot to think about. The following information will help you navigate your benefits.
- Within your first week of joining PayPal, watch your work email for information from Canada Life directing you to activate your online account. You will have 31 days to enrol or decline coverage.
- Enrolment into the Group RRSP through Manulife is optional, and you can enrol at any time, provided you have unused RRSP contribution room (newcomers to Canada need to first file an income tax return). Your information is provided to Manulife, and you’ll receive two separate letters from Manulife to your home address: one with your username and the other with your temporary password.
- If you’re a Vancouver employee, you’re eligible for a Wellness Spending Account, which provides you with an allowance of up to Can$750 per year (taxable) to spend on wellness-related items and services. This amount is prorated based on your hire date. You’ll receive a Welcome email from myHSA with a secure portal link to set up your account.
What you need to do
1. Enrol in your group health benefits within 31 days of your date of hire.
Once you receive your email from Canada Life, click on the link to enrol in the group benefits plan. Enter your personal information, make selections about coverage, enter info about eligible family members (if applicable), and designate your beneficiaries. Review your entries and click submit. You should see a success screen indicating completion of enrolment. At this point, you’ll be able to access your digital benefits card.
2. Enrol in the Group RRSP — and get free money in your account.
It’s easy to enrol online via the Manulife.ca portal. Or you can call the Manulife Plan Member Contact Centre at 800-242-1704 and set up contributions through automatic payroll deductions. Contributions can be changed at any time. PayPal will contribute an amount equal to your contributions, up to a maximum of 4% per pay period. These contributions are deposited automatically each pay period.
