Paid Time Off
PayPal values your wellness and wants you to take care of yourself and others in a way that best addresses your needs. Our Paid Time Off (PTO) policy provides the flexibility to use your time for whatever recharges you.
All full-time employees receive 19 days of PTO in their first year with the company, and then earn an additional day for each year of service, up to a maximum of 23 days. In addition, you have 6 bank holidays (fixed Sundays when the office is closed).
You may only cash out accumulated, unused vacation days upon leaving PayPal.
Sick leave
All full-time employees are eligible for up to 18 working days of sick leave each year, with full pay upon submitting a medical certificate. Sick leave is to be used when you're ill and is not to be used to care for a sick family member. If you have any unused days at the end of the year, you may carry them over to the next year; there is no cash-out option. The maximum number of sick leave days that you may accumulate is 90 days.
Other types of paid leave
Take care of what’s most important to you: your family. PayPal offers a variety of paid leaves of absence that allow you to take care of your loved ones. Please check the relevant Leave of Absence policy on the Bridge to ensure you allow enough time for your notice.
Paid maternity leave
15 weeks (17 weeks for twins) of leave; employees will be entitled to National Insurance Institute payments during the period.
Unpaid maternity leave
Provided pursuant to statutory requirement. You may choose to extend your maternity leave without pay after the paid leave ends. The unpaid leave can be up to 25% of the length of your service with the company, but not over a year from the date of birth.
Paid paternity leave
4 weeks paid leave to be taken within the first 12 months after the child’s birth / placement
Marriage leave
2 paid days for marriage
Military reserve
During your military reserve service, PayPal will pay your base salary and all other social benefits. National Insurance Institute payments, in connection with military reserve duty, will be retained by the company.
Bereavement leave
- 20 days of paid leave for the death of a partner or child
- 3 days of paid leave for the death of a parent, grandparent, or sibling
- 1 day of paid leave for the death of other family members
