What you need to know

PayPal offers generous time-off policies, including paid holidays, so you can be there for the special moments and recharge your batteries.

2024 holiday schedule

New Year's Day: Monday, January 1

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Monday, January 15

Presidents' Day: Monday, February 19

Memorial Day: Monday, May 27

Juneteenth: Wednesday, June 19

Independence Day: Thursday, July 4

Labor Day: Monday, September 2

Veterans Day: Monday, November 11

Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 28

Day after Thanksgiving: Friday, November 29

Company-designated holiday (observed): Tuesday, December 24

Christmas Day: Wednesday, December 25

Eligibility

  • Employees working at least 30 hours per week will receive pay for all scheduled holidays.
  • Employees working at least 20 hours per week will receive 4 hours of pay for all scheduled holidays.
  • These rules apply whether or not the holiday falls on a day you would normally work.

Holiday Pay

  • Determined by multiplying your regular pay rate by the hours you would otherwise have worked on that day, up to 12 hours.
  • If eligible non-exempt employees work on a recognized holiday, they will receive Holiday Pay plus wages at their regular rate for the hours worked on the holiday.
  • Paid time for holidays will not be counted as hours worked for the purposes of determining overtime.

Holiday and Weekends

  • A recognized holiday that falls on a Saturday will be observed on the preceding Friday.
  • A recognized holiday that falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday.
  • Paid time for holidays will not be counted as hours worked for the purposes of determining overtime.

Holiday Pay While on Leave of Absence

  • Holidays will not be paid out to you while on a leave of absence.
  • Paid time for holidays will not be counted as hours worked for the purposes of determining FMLA eligibility.
  • The manager should ensure the employee's timecard is coded with the applicable leave in Kronos.

PayPal Observed Holiday Falling on a Day Off

Unless otherwise required by law, holidays are only offered on the announced day. Therefore, unless otherwise stated by the Company, when a holiday falls on a non-working day (including any paid or other time off from work), employees will not be permitted to take the holiday on an alternative date.

Talk to your manager about your options for taking any additional time off.

Religious Time Off

For employees that celebrate religious holidays or events outside those that are federally recognized:

  • Employees can discuss with their manager or site HRBP available time off options. If there is a need for an accommodation, employees should reach out to Employee Advocacy to discuss options. Please note that approved time-off accommodations require the use of available Paid Time Off (PTO) or will be unpaid if PTO is not available.
