Vision

What you need to know

Keep your vision crystal clear with coverage through VSP. Once you enroll, you won’t receive an ID card; just tell the doctor’s office that you're a VSP member when you make your appointment. You can also choose to get care at retailers such as Costco, Visionworks, and Cohen’s Fashion Optical, which are part of the VSP network. See what you pay in paycheck contributions for each plan, and easily find in-network providers.

You have two plans to choose from:

  • Core option, which covers routine eye exams, frames, and lenses, but doesn’t cover services like LASIK surgery.
  • Enhanced option, which covers two pairs of frames and lenses, and contact lenses, and includes a $1,000 allowance toward LASIK surgery.
The Enhanced option provides a $150 allowance for glasses or contacts. You can receive two pairs of glasses, a mix of glasses and contacts, or two pairs of contacts totaling $300 (using $150 under the first and second pair).

Protect your eyes with an eye exam

An annual eye exam allows your doctor to identify medical conditions before they become serious. If needed, your doctor can begin to provide monitoring and treatment that can help prevent vision problems and coordinate with your primary doctor to ensure you’re getting the best care. During your visit, talk with your doctor about your visual and health history so they have the full picture of your health.

Here are some quick tips for using your plan:

  • Visit your vision provider whenever you need to. You don’t need a referral and you’ll pay a flat copay for the visit.
  • You don’t need an ID card. If you would like to print an ID card, go to vsp.com and register.
  • It’s easy to find a VSP doctor. Simply visit vsp.com, or call 800-877-7195.

That’s it! You don’t need to file a claim if you see a VSP doctor.

If you have diabetes, glaucoma, or age-related macular degeneration, you can receive an additional eye exam each calendar year for free!
